WE'RE HIRING! Brand & Sales Ambassador


The Melbourne Pantry creates small-batch premium smoked goods alongside a bespoke butchering service. Suppliers to some of Victoria’s most discerning chefs and fine food purveyors, the business is run by the Freemans, a father/son butcher/chef duo, who are seeking an experienced Brand & Sales Ambassador to join the small team for three days per week, and lead the charge on the sales front.


  • The Melbourne Pantry product portfolio comprises an exquisite range of premium smoked products - salmon, British-style bacon (streaky, back and steak), yogurt, maple syrup and tomatoes are core amongst a range of smoked goods – as well as a bespoke butchery service to chefs seeking specific cuts, curing and butchery.

  • The successful candidate will be charged with helping to set the sales strategy and then implement it.

  • Reporting to the business owners, most of your time will be spent in the field, nurturing and growing existing relationships and creating new ones, across Melbourne and surrounding regional areas.

  • You will be responsible for visiting customers, introducing the brand, managing sample delivery, following up sales opportunities, and processing orders. Our chef customers often have very specific needs, so you will work closely with them on their requirements.

  • You will be involved in retail product demonstrations as required, as well as support retailers with in-store marketing and promotional strategies.

  • There is also an opportunity to work with the team on new product development, as well as identify sales opportunities that may currently be considered outside of the box.


  • You are passionate about the food industry and have a thorough understanding of the nature of premium products as well as the Melbourne foodservice market and the operators within it – independent retailers, cafe owners, chefs and other potential stockists.

  • Your CV may feature a similar sales role, or a B2B food service role, or you may be a Chef with great business acumen that is seeking friendlier hours.

  • You just love sales, and have the ability to drive positive results through negotiation and innovation. You are highly organised and comfortable with recording and reporting requirements, and rising to the challenges of a sales strategy and budget targets.

  • You are an effective communicator, a team player and have a proactive sales approach. You have a natural ability to build rapport quickly and are resilient, persuasive and persistent (with a respectful touch). You are trustworthy and transparent.

  • You will be comfortable working from your home office and spending time on the road (and hold a current driving license and have your own vehicle). You are self-motivated and have buckets of initiative and can work autonomously, but also work closely within the business team to reach overall goals.

  • You embrace technology and understand the importance of maintaining a robust CRM system. You’re also not afraid to get on the phone as a key way to communicate (and hustle!).


  • The remuneration package comprises salary plus commission, as well as as an ipad, mobile phone and car allowance.

  • The business has enormous growth potential and we’re keen to appoint the person who will best recognise and relish this opportunity.
